Emt Surgical
Is it good to become a surgical technician and then try to get into Physician Assistant School?
I have heard you can also become an EMT, but I don't really want to do that. I really want to specialize in surgery when and if I become a PA. Would being a surg. tech. be a good thing on my application to PA school.
Yes, that would be good although if you are going to a family practice PA program (as opposed to a surgical PA program) you might want to try & get in some actual patient care type experience. A surg tech really has no patient care at all. A friend got into the PA program as a surg tech but he was also an EMT & worked in our ER. (so you can be an EMT & not do typical EMT stuff--many ERs employ EMTs as help).
The more experience you have going in the easier the program is & the better PA you are coming out.

(BTW--the answer you got re: NPs {vrs PAs} was very unfactual--I don't think that person was either one but going on just what he'd heard--you can email me if you want more info--I really am not biased as my best friend is a NP!)
